So technically this post would be a staycation – but when you have such an outstanding art museum within an hour drive – there really is no excuse. I love to visit the museum on cold winter days. On days when my creativity is feeling a little grey the work inside always inspires me to think beyond my mind’s capabilities. My first real connection with art was at the Dayton Institute of Arts when I was in high school. Most Januarys I would spend almost every day after school walking through the galleries. It was there that I first understood the meaning of modern and post modern art. As I get older, I struggle to appreciate this art even more. Perhaps it is because I have embraced logic too much or that simplicity feels like a luxury in life. Either way – I can’t wait to start seeing art through the eyes of Maggie. We have a treasure in Detroit with the DIA and I think an afternoon off and a creative session at the DIA is in my near future.
